Family Dinner Party

I’ve often thought that I put a ton of energy into entertaining guests, but when it’s just us I tend to skip the fun details. Yesterday afternoon, when I was trying to figure out what to make for dinner, a different idea popped into my head — I decided to throw a dinner party for the family…

Fresh cut flowers, cloth napkins, a tablecloth and candles — everything was pulled out to make the evening feel special.

Icy limeade served with a slice of lime and a bright straw; a small detail, but it makes the kids happy.

When the kids came to the table, they cheered with excitement and ran upstairs to change into party dresses. The dimmed lights and flamenco music we were playing inspired bursts of impromptu dancing throughout the evening. It warms my heart to see the kids laughing and having fun.

Grocery store tulips in a TJMaxx vase makes an inexpensive centerpiece and looks great!

I love the way my leopard print coasters look against the pattern of the tablecloth (click on image for my fake fur coaster tutorial).

As a family attendee I can assure you, this was a killer Friday dinner party. So fun to have all that atmosphere. Olé!
