Shopping Notes

As a mother and a blogger, I have no use for expensive handbags — I have too many things to carry and my life is a bit too messy for anything too precious. I prefer a large, sturdy bag that can handle the occasional books, magazines or notepad and pencils that I carry along with me (you never know when you’ll get a free minute to learn something new or get inspired). I also think it’s more fun to pick up a funky, inexpensive bag that’s a bit unexpected and surprising.

Shopping for school supplies with my daughters has brought me into the stores quite a bit these days and I’ve been seeing a bunch of cute, funky and affordable carryalls. There were two that I just couldn’t resist and they made their way home with me…

This gold backpack (Target, Xhilaration $29.99) is fun and funky and looks great with skinny jeans and a stylish t-shirt, or a linen shift dress and oxfords.

Old Navy

For only $11.49 at Old Navy, I had to get this canvas tribal tote for books, magazines and supplies. It was too good not to get – it's well constructed and the pattern is striking.
