Makeup Bag Cold Pack

You know those sample-filled makeup bags you get as a gift with purchase from the cosmetic counters at department stores? If you’re like me, you find that they can start to accumulate and then you have a drawer full of perfectly good and unused bags.  It’s this kind of situation that gets me thinking about ways to repurpose. I decided to put a few of them to use as cold packs for traveling meals…

A polyester makeup bag (like this one I got from Clinique) has an ideal lining for holding ice – it's water resistant.

Fill a plastic resealable bag with ice, place in makeup bag, zip closed and tuck into your canvas tote to keep food chilled. The bag will control condensation and leaks and prevent ice from melting right away. After each use, toss bag back in freezer to refreeze. Stains wipe off with a damp cloth.

Hi! Love that you posted this — a frozen, moistened sponge also works great to keep things chilled and putting it in the cute bag disguises it beautifully!
