DIY Anthropologie Mason Jar Snow Globes

Cover: For this project you will need: Mason jars (available in a variety of sizes at craft and grocery stores for $1.00- $2.99 a piece), bottlebrush tree (I got a bag of 20 different sized trees for $10.00 at a craft store), artificial snow and a glue gun or floral stick.

I love the little Mason Jar Snow Globes they are selling at Anthropologie right now, but not so keen on the price tag. I couldn’t resist the urge to make my own for a fraction of the price and you can too! Take a look…

You can make these in 3 minutes!

For this project you will need: Mason jars (available in a variety of sizes at craft and grocery stores for $1.00- $2.99 a piece), bottlebrush trees (I got a bag of 20 different sized trees for $10.00 at a craft store), artificial snow and a glue gun or floral stick.

Place about a half of a cup of artificial snow in jar. Depending on the size of the jar - you may need more or less - just add enough to blanket the bottom of the jar and cover the base of the tree.

Using a glue gun or floral stick, attach tree to inside of lid.

Screw on lid.

Turn upside-down and tap side of jar to shake down snow from trees.

This is a great project to make and give - and definitely get the kids to help - mine loved this one.

    They really are gorgeous. I think I’ll make mine with epsom salt for snow. I’m currently obsessed with the stuff!

      Jessa- that’s a great idea! I was also thinking you could use uncooked white rice or dry potato flakes. Thanks! C

    That is SO neat and such a quick project. We will have to try to make one! I can’t believe Anthro is trying to charge a good $25 bucks. Crazy 🙂 Thanks for the DIY!!

      Thanks Heather! I was surprised at the price – I couldn’t figure it out … perhaps they used vintage bottlebrush trees??? Not sure – but loved the look 🙂 Take Care, C

    i have been making these for years and i’d like to suggest that you add some glycerine to the water and make sure the glue you use inside is water proof or you will have your little trees or whatever you put inside floating around soon.the glycerine makes the snow fall slowly.

    So cute…love the mason jars. I used to make these with baby food jars. The ornaments are adorable, sealing them with the cork is a great idea. Here is another way to seal them. Use vintage buttons to fill balls and close them up with a two hole button…simply use the prong from the removed top and squeezed into the two button holes. I then embellished the top with strips of twine, crumpled bias tape or ripped silk!

    Thanks so much for this. Totally doing it!! I bought the trees at Hobby Lobby in the miniature doll house collection. I also saw them in the high end train sets collection. Just FYI for anyone else who couldn’t find them 🙂

    My kids and I used ornaments instead of trees (we couldn’t find the trees and started thinking snowmen and Santa Claus. Turned out really cute and the kids picked ornaments based on their teachers likings, etc.
