How We Celebrate Thanksgiving (#MyKindOfHoliday)

For our family, Thanksgiving Day marks the official start of the Christmas season — it’s when we put up our Christmas tree. My sister-in-law hosts Thanksgiving at her home every year, so when all of the feasting and fun is over at her place, we head home to start up our own little decorating party. We put a fire in the fireplace, turn up the carols and deck the halls — it’s our Thanksgiving tradition and we love it! To add some fun to the moment, I put out easy appetizers and sparkling cider or hot chocolate for the kids, and I pop a bottle of champagne for me and my husband. As a blogger participating in Target’s #MyKindOfHoliday program, I’ve been asked to select a few Target items that I think would add some style to our yearly Thanksgiving tradition, so here are my picks…

I love these textured platters from Threshold – they have that handmade look I like and are perfect for serving up appetizers to the family while we decorate our tree. The large white platter is my favorite. I would use it to serve an assortment of cheeses and I’d garnish it with cranberries and rosemary clippings to visually mark the beginning of the Christmas season.

I am loving this cool ombre glassware from Threshold – great for a hip sip by the fire.

We don’t have our tree up yet, but I’ve started putting up some lights here and there. I’m really into Target’s holiday light selection right now – they have everything. Here are a few of  my latest purchases and how I used them:

I've already started my outdoor decorating. With a mixture of 3 different light strands from Target, I've added a little holiday sparkle to our front walk.

Our arbor is a great spot to add some fun lighting. I used mercury globe lights, star lights and plain white lights (all from Target) and twisted them around the bare vines.

I love the mix of lights – they create a dramatic effect.
