My son's school asks parents to come share a part of their culture. I'm from Arizona and was trying to figure out something. Came across your post and was inspired to use foil to make saguaro cacti. The kids made two rolls of foil, wrapped them in green tissue paper, well coated with watery glue. Tied them together like a cross and turned up the arms. Broken angel hair pasta became the "spines".
