Morning routines are fascinating to me – I love reading about the incredible daily schedules of women who wake with the sun, have 45-minute meditations by the ocean, give themselves face oil massages, apply hair masks and take regular old smoothies to an unrecognizable form (I don’t know what ashwagandha is, but I know it’s not in our house at the moment). So it’s with this thought that I decided to share my own morning happenings. I want you to know that I am not complaining about how bad things are in my life because I don’t have a home that faces the ocean or a private pilates instructor. I am also not exaggerating for the sake of contrasting the fancy ladies’ morning routines – I am just joining in on the trend to show what my mornings really look like in order to balance things out for the everywoman. This is me – this is my current morning routine…
6:30 AM: I am a fan of the snooze button. I hit it as often as I can – negotiating in my mind the things I can give up later in order to barter for more sleep at the moment (showering is usually top of the list).
7:00 AM: I reach for my phone and terrify myself by reading the news.
7:15 AM: I complain to my husband about the horrifying things I have just read.
7:30 AM: I shower my dogs with kisses and compliment their beauty, intelligence and incredible souls.
7:45 AM: I get out of bed.

Because I’m 50, I get hot flashes at night, so I sleep in the least amount of clothing possible – like a t-shirt and underwear. In the morning, I grab any pants that are nearby and throw them on. They are almost always wrinkled and never match my top.
7:50 AM: I try to wake my daughter for camp.
8:15 AM: My daughter usually makes a morning smoothie for us, but today I did. A regular smoothie with bananas, blueberries, strawberries and yogurt.

Here’s a fact: a blender and a Magic Bullet Nutriblender are the same thing. If you have a blender – you can make a smoothie.
8:45 AM My daughter and I wait outside for her ride.
8:55ish AM Chores.

I like to power through the chores – make bed, fold laundry, throw in a load of laundry, unload dishwasher, etc..
That’s my morning. If I can get away with walking the dogs around the block in my crazy morning clothes without bumping into someone I know – the morning is a complete success.
Have a great day!
XO, Camilla
I love your morning routine. I have to walk the dogs first, right after their breakfast. Otherwise, no rest. ♥️
Sounds like a perfect way to start the day–with your family. Thanks for sharing!
