When wrapping gifts, I try to reduce the amount of waste as much as possible — I always feel terribly guilty using wrapping paper. For smaller gifts – like cash, gift cards & jewelry – try using a resale shop mug. I often find great designs on older mugs from the -70’s and earlier and many times I pay less than $0.50 a piece. Seal the top with adhesive wrap and the contents stay in place. Also – the recipient has the added benefit of receiving a cool new mug for their morning coffee or to hold pens or flowers on their desk.
Funky resale shop mugs make great containers for smaller gifts and serve as a gift in their own right as well.
For this I used: Glad Press'n Seal multipurpose sealing wrap (grocery stores), a few resale shop mugs, an X-Acto knife and homemade pom-poms.
Place gift in mug and put a sheet of Press'n Seal on top. Press down along the rim to secure.
Flip cup over and run X-Acto knife around the edge to cut off excess.
You will have a neat and secure covering for your mug. Add a bow or a homemade pom-pom to the top with a dab of craft glue.
These make nice party favors too - they're green and different.
