This Valentine's Day project makes a fun and unusual gift.

To make this just paint a can with a few coats of latex paint, pierce a design into the surface using a hammer and nail and pull embroidery thread through the holes with a needle. This can be used to hold pens on a desk - or drop a paper cup inside and fill with flowers.

I love the idea! Quick tip: if you put water in the can and let it freeze before hammering the holes, the can won’t bend as much. 🙂

Great idea. To keep can from bending when you hammer the design… Fill with water and freeze. Your nail goes thru the ice and there is no bending.
