With all that is going on in the world at this time, I am drawn to the Peace Symbol more than ever. Inspired by a popular peace sign grapevine wreath, I decided to make a small version for the tree. For this project all you’ll need is vine covered wire, wire clippers, needle nose pliers and a leather strap or piece of yarn.
A small peace sign ornament made from vine covered wire is easy to make and fun to do with the kids. Hang it on the tree or attach it to a gift.
Supplies: vine covered wire (craft stores & online), wire clippers, needle nose pliers and a cord or yarn to hang it up.
To begin, wrap wire into a 3.5″ circle. I wrapped mine around 4 times.
Wrap the ends of the wire around your circle to secure. I used needle nose pliers to get a tight finish. Some of the vine covering may fray at the ends, I trimmed with scissors and held down the ends with a bit of hot glue.
Cut a piece of wire that is long enough to fit the length of your circle with leftover length for wrapping and to leave a loop at the top. Straighten and attach vertically.
Cut another length of wire that is long enough to create the angled part of your design. Wrap it around the center piece, bend down the sides and wrap around sides of circle to secure.
Pull a cord through your top loop, knot to secure and hang.
Sending out Peace and Love this holiday season.
