If you have a large ornament collection, like I do, here’s a quick project that puts to use a few of those extras that didn’t make it onto the tree…

This works great for those ornaments that are missing their caps.

Fill a vessel with uncooked rice, stick in some 12″ bamboo skewers (you can cut some skewers down to help with the overall shape and placement of ornaments and create variation in height). Gently remove the metal caps from ornaments (and save them in a bag so you can reattach them later), place the ornaments onto the bamboo tips. Fill in any open spots with moss or small greenery clippings.

What’s nice about this project is that no glue is needed – you can disassemble the arrangement – the ornaments aren’t damaged. Just reconnect the caps and pack them away for next year.
