Don’t walk away from thrift store artwork just because you don’t like the frame or the mat…
I found these large yachts of the America’s cup limited edition prints at Salvation Army for $20 each. I loved the print, but hated the mats – I took them to our local framer and had the mats replaced for $90.
They now hang in our powder room and I am quite happy with them. Just remember you can always keep the frame and glass – no need to switch out everything. Also – these days most framers use plastic instead of glass (which I don’t like), so you’re better off keeping the glass. If you don’t like the frame, you can always paint it or ask your framer if they have second-hand frames you could buy – they usually do and are available at a fraction of the price of custom.
