The “I Dig You” Chocolate Bar Envelope

A chocolate bar is wrapped in an embroidered paper bag envelope to make a sweet and thoughtful Valentine.

To make this, I cut out an 8.5" x 9" sheet from a brown paper grocery bag and folded into thirds.

I Created a pocket by stitching together the sides on the bottom two thirds of the folded paper.

To stitch the sides together, I marked out my stitch lines with pencil, pierced holes into the paper and stitched the sides shut with embroidery thread and a needle.

To create the message on the flap of the envelope, I wrote it out with pencil first -

- Then (using my needle) I pierced stitching holes into my design, gently erased the pencil marks and started embroidering.

I used a back stitch.

I punched a hole into the flap, threaded a 15" length of jute through the hole, wrapped it around the package and secured with a knot.
