Pink newspaper is cut into strips and machine sewn back together again to create a cover for a glass vase.
These simple covers easily slip over glass cylinder vases and look great when filled with flowers, branches or candles.
I used The Financial Times – it is a pale shade of pink and makes for a more interesting look. I picked mine up at Borders for $2.50.
I like to add texture to the paper – so, I wrinkle it up and then flatten it out before I cut it into strips of various widths.
Place one strip on top of another and sew edges together. Keep adding on strips. I used a red thread and a simple straight stitch (size 3 on my machine).
Before stitching it closed, wrap it around your vase to make sure it loosely fits your vase and can easily slip on and off. Add another strip if it feels too tight.

That is so incredibly gorgeous, I can’t see how I ever lived without it. For some reason, I seem to see a group of Victorian people standing around commenting on the flowers. LOVE!
I am in love with this idea! It is so unique. I like the pink newsprint by the way!
Hi Bonnie- Thanks! I love the pink newspaper too – it looks great through candlelight. Take Care, C
I love how you take such simple, common materials (the Financial Times!) and make them beautiful. Who knew they made pink newsprint?
You have so many great ideas! I just recently found your blog, and have been reading through all your posts and bookmarking things I want to make – and they are plenty! Now I have another lovely post to bookmark, thank you so much!

Can’t wait to go home and make this-somebody gave me their free financial times in the airport while I was traveling this weekend, which make my project free!

What a nice idea!! It is simple, but it looks so great! Even with the pink tulips
