A plastic bag is cut into strips to create this plastic bag bow - a green way to wrap a gift.
Ready for giving - a bottle of wine is placed in a simple linen bag and wrapped with my easy to make bag bow.
You'll need a bloom loom - available at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores for about $4.00. These are traditionally used for making yarn flowers - which I love to do too. However, I couldn't resist giving it a try with a different material and I discovered that plastic bags work really well too.
You can use any brightly colored plastic shopping bag or newspaper bag. Begin by making a few cuts up the side and across the bottom of the bag so that you have a flat sheet of plastic. Then cut your sheet into one-inch wide strips.
Make one long strip of plastic by tying the ends of each strip together. Make sure to trim any extra plastic from the knots to make them as unnoticeable as possible. Follow bloom loom instructions and use plastic as you would use yarn. It is really quite simple - I can make one of these in under 5 minutes.

just wanted to let you know i have been getting some cool colors of plastic bags lately. I have recently aquired solid red, orange and black, and white with pink and brown polka dots from a candy supply store purchase…when i saw the bag she handed me with my purchase, this post was the first thing I thought of! I have them stashed, ready and waiting!
