Handle Wraps

Family Chic Decorating

Here’s a fast way to refresh an old collection…

I love beat up pewter pitchers and trays; I have collected quite a few garage sale treasures over the years. I thought I'd give my collection a quick update by wrapping the handles in suede and cloth.

I love change, but I also love to be able to change my changes (I am fickle). With the snip of a scissor, these wraps can easily be removed once I tire of this look.

I used strips of torn fabric and leather cording used for beading (found in the jewelry supply aisle of craft stores). You could also use wire, yarn, twine or even ribbon.

The nice thing about this is you can change your collection to work with any color palette you choose.

The key to making this effect temporary is to glue the suede to itself and not to the pitcher. Keep it tight as you go along.

To end your wrap, just add a small dab of hot glue to the end of the cord and press it onto the wrapped cord.
