Cutting The Deck – To Deck The Halls

One thing I always see in resale shops are decks of old playing cards. They can usually be purchased for pennies and no one seems to be buying them. I like the way they look and thought up a few tricks for using them in my holiday decorating this year. The great thing about this project is that it can work for Valentine’s day too.

A grapevine wreath (available at craft stores) is brightened up a bit with the help of some card cut outs. I used a small and large round die cut and just tucked the circles in between the vines.

Thinking ahead - I used my heart shaped die cut to punch out a bunch of hearts for Valentine's Day. When the time comes - I'll just pull out the circles and tuck in the hearts.

What to do with the rest of the card? Glue paper to the back, punch it with a hole and use it as a gift tag.

Round card cut outs make a great garland too.

Punch out your shape, make two slits with an X-Acto knife and string onto yarn.
